The International Bureau of Exhibitions, the authority responsible for "Expo", approved the proposal of the government of the United Arab Emirates to change the date of "Expo 2020 Dubai", to the period between the first of October 2021, to March 31, 2022. This delay will allow all participants to bypass the effect of Covid-19, thus enabling this international event to focus on a common desire to map out new ideas to develop solutions to some of the most important challenges of our time.

In this context, the head of the Supreme Committee for Expo 2020 Dubai, Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, welcomed the decision of the member states of the International Exhibitions Bureau in favor of delaying Expo 2020 Dubai for a year, and thanked them for their continued commitment to contribute to the Expo Dubai, which will play a pivotal role in shaping the features of our world after the recede of the pandemic, when we need it most.

He said: "For 50 years, we have always worked on building bridges of communication, relations and partnerships with the world, based on our belief in sincere cooperation in order to protect the future for all. This rapid vote from the majority is a valid indication of the strength of our international partnerships and embodiment of the positive role played by the UAE United Arab Emirates with the countries of the world."

He stressed that "the international community's endorsement of Dubai's offer and its confirmation of its confidence in its ability to achieve achievement only reinforces our commitment to elevating this achievement to the level of ambitions, by hosting an international event that dazzles and inspires the world at the appropriate time."
